A snapshot of your day:

As the National Sales and Marketing Manager, you are responsible for Sales, Customer Service and Marketing strategy, leading a focused team of 6 direct reports and managing national account / franchise relationships.

This role has an exciting level of variety, including sales, marketing planning and strategy, forecasting, budgeting and people management.
Leading the regionally based sales teams you will cultivate and maintain National Account relationships, including with key accounts, franchisee and licensed dealer networks.
Because good business is built on long-term relationships and connections.

With a strong focus on Marketing, you will be collaborating with the Product team on managing margins, developing and launching new products as well as overseeing the marketing teams’ brand and digital strategies – both B to B and B to C.

You will be involved in industry networking, conferences, product training workshops, architectural specification activities and events.

Most relative skillset of experience that will see you really succeed:

  • Senior Leadership experience (Sales and Marketing) at a National Level.
  • Either experience working within the building industry, or industrial with an understanding of a largely technical product range.
  • Proven success implementing Sales and Marketing plans within a business.
  • Relationship driven, results and solutions focused, combined with a strong skillset with planning and strategic ability.
  •  Personality, a proactive leadership style, and sense of humour will suit this team very well.

SALES REPRESENTATIVE - Can you be our next Nautical Navigator of Sales?

About the opportunity

Distributors in all things marine, this NZ owned business represent the best brands, premium products and continue to uphold a reputation of excellence.

Managing a large dealer network, boat builders and designers; this business is classed as NZ’s major supplier.

Joining the small crew, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, predominantly focusing on developing and strengthening an existing client portfolio and generating new business.

While this role involves managing accounts, you are predominantly promoting the entire product range, networking, understanding the market, new boating projects and how you can be the preferred supplier to these businesses.

You may be wanting to step into B2B sales,  or are so passionate about all things marine that you want to combine this passion with your job.

A breakdown of your day:
(It’s going to be pretty busy, you won’t have time to duck out for a fish until after work)

  • Managing client relationships by regular visits (3-4 days on the road each week) as well as national travel (1 week per month approx.)
  • Identifying your clients needs by understanding upcoming boat builds, maintenance and repairs, their customers market demands and making their lives easier with your product range and a slick service (freight and technical support)
  • You will be confident calling on a range of people and businesses (workshops, boat builders, boat yards, charters, some commercial, clubs and associations, and industrial operators).
  • Absolutely must know about boats.   You will be dealing with experts in marine, so knowing a bit about boating is vital.
  • Regularly reviewing competitor activity, understanding the differences between products.
  • Working on reports – analysing trends of previous and current ordering.
  • General office duties, working closely alongside your crew with supporting internal sales,  assisting in the shop, administration where required.

If you spend time on the water, know a thing or two about components on a vessel; this job is certainly going to float your boat.

We are looking for:

  • The ability to find new business opportunities with existing clients.
  • The drive and hunger to achieve targets and identify new areas to further develop and new people to talk to.
  • Mastering action.  This is a results business,  you are promoting products but also requesting the sale.
  • Someone practical who understands the challenges boat builders/marine sectors have working in their field.
  • Team player – can fit in well with a small team of colleagues who are fun, passionate, helpful and very supportive of each other.

It’s a social role, you will be involved in many trade events nationwide.

With new projects in the pipeline, the Sales team are needing some additional support with their administration.   This is a vital role where you are responsible for the end to end project management (behind the scenes).

  • Managing all necessary documentation for quotations.  Includes working with the sales team on their plans and materials.
  • Calculating materials and ensuring the production team are working alongside.
  • Maintaining an accurate system of products, incoming and outgoing.
